CourseGraphic We live in the world of the selfie. Humans have always felt the need to create images of themselves and share them -- the only thing that has changed over time is the ways that we do it. Using the “selfie” as the basis of a contemporary self-portrait, create a “selfie” portrait of a famous self portrait artist. By comparing the characteristics and purposes of today’s self-portrait to those of the past, like those of Frida Kahlo or Vincent Van Gogh, you'll be able to create your own version of their iconic self-portrait work using oil pastels, watercolor pencils and other drawing techniques. Then take your own selfie to the next level by creating a mixed medium art piece -- you can even add a sense of humor to your portrait work by adding a Snapchat filter. What image of you do you want to share with the world? Please note: to take this class you do not need to have a smartphone.
