CourseGraphic Lights, music, runway, action! That’s how we finish our week of creativity and fashion. We’ll begin the week by diving into the history of fashion from the 1920’s to the present, studying clothing from each decade to develop a strong foundation for creating your own designs. You’ll learn fashion sketching, creating multiple designs on paper before sketching your final project for the fashion show. Then choose your materials—you can select new pieces of fabric, as well as recycled thrift and vintage clothes that can be re-shaped, cut, pinned, and sewn to create your design. Patterns will be available to assist you, and all sewing can be done by hand or by machine. Design your own piece or collaborate with other students to create unique one of a kind designs and incorporate fun accessories. Finally, everyone will pitch in as models, dressers, text writers, researchers, announcers, and coordinators to put on the ultimate runway fashion show!
