Course Description:

This course provides participants with an overview of the history of alcoholic beverage law and regulation, focusing on direct to consumer and wholesale licensing for a California winery.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the interconnected licenses and permits required to fulfill direct to consumer and wholesale wine sales outside the state of California, including evaluating the cost of obtaining and maintaining licenses and related reporting requirements.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify different types of licensing requirements for a California winery to sell wine outside of California.
  • Understand the metrics needed to evaluate the costs and determine what licensing footprint is best for your winery.
  • Understand the different reporting requirements related to selling wine outside of California.
  • Understand that there are multiple ways to stay in compliance with out of state licensing and reporting requirements.
