Course Description: This course will cover the basics of audio technology and production focusing on the electronics and techniques involved in recording, mixing, editing, performing and listening. The course will involve lecture, critical listening, discussion, writing and handson projects utilizing digital audio hardware and software in a professional studio setting.

Required Materials: Textbook—Huber, David Miles and Robert E. Runstein. Modern Recording Techniques. 9th ed. Boston, MA.: Focal Press, 2018.

Course Objectives: Upon successful course completion, students should be able to:
1. Understand the basics of audio technology and production.
2. Use digital software to record, edit and mix audio.
3. Listen critically to recorded music and determine the techniques involved in its creation.
4. Apply technical knowledge to creative work.
